How humans evolved language-CEFR

Read an academic text about how humans evolved language to practise and improve your reading skills.
Definition-

Are you a proficient (CEFR level C1) English learner? You can practise reading in this part to improve your comprehension of lengthy, complicated books that cover a wide range of topics, some of which may be unfamiliar. Specialized articles, biographies, and summaries are examples of texts.

Example-
  • We have a lot of knowledge on the evolution of the 5,000+ languages that are currently spoken thanks to the study of linguistics. We can discuss their grammar and pronunciation as well as the evolution of both spoken and written forms. For instance, we are aware of the Indo-European language family's beginnings, which may be traced to tribes in eastern Europe around 3000 BC and includes Norwegian, Hindi, and English. As a result, we have a good understanding of most of the history of language, but there are still some gaps. To better understand how the human species evolved the ability to use language, experts are starting to look to the discipline of evolutionary biology. There are currently significantly more questions and hypotheses than there are solutions.
  • We are aware that human language is significantly more complicated than the languages of even our closest and smartest cousins, such as chimpanzees. We are able to transmit sensitive emotions, intricate thoughts, and abstract ideas like the past and future. And while doing so, we adhere to a set of grammar-related structural norms. Do only humans have a built-in system of laws governing word order? Perhaps not—according to some research, dolphins are also thought to be capable of recognising when these norms are disobeyed.
  • We must consider how our brains vary from those of other animals if we want to understand where our capacity for complex language originated. The additional functions of human brains, as well as how and when they originated, are crucial considerations in addition to their size. And there aren't many physical hints for this too; the artefacts left behind by our predecessors don't reveal what kind of speech they were able to produce. However, the evolution of the mouth, throat, and tongue is something we can witness in the early human bones. The ability to produce complex sounds had evolved in humans by about 100,000 years ago. Evolutionary biologists can only speculate as to whether or not early humans using more basic sounds.

Conclusion-

Each lesson includes a model text with writing tips, and tasks to test your understanding and practise various writing skills. Begin right away.
