Definition-

Cambridge English Language Assessment offered an English language test called the Business Language Testing Service. The device was formally decommissioned on December 6, 2019. It evaluates a person's proficiency in a language that is utilised in a professional setting.

A multi-level test is the Business Language Testing Service (BULATS). Neither "pass" nor "fail" exist. Instead, a score based on your CEF level is assigned to you. 

It is for whom? 

The BULATS Test was created with businesses and organisations in mind. In addition to French, German, and Spanish, it is used to test English. 

How is the BULATS test structured? 

Cambridge English is the publisher of BULATS. Four sections make up the test. Each can be completed alone. 

  • 60 minutes or so for the computer test 
  • 110 minutes for a paper-based standard test. There are two portions on the test: listening and reading comprehension. The difficulties of the questions increase over time. 

Listening

Part1-Understanding brief discussions or monologues is part of listening.

Part2-Taking down phone messages, orders, notes, etc. in part 2. 

Part3-Listening for the main idea and determining the topic, setting, or purpose. brief dialogues or monologues. 

Part4-Listening to extended speech for detail and inference is covered in part 4. Monologue/dialogue.

Reading and language knowledge 

Part 1-

Section1-Understanding announcements, messages, timetables, advertisements, pamphlets, graphs, etc. is covered in Reading and Language Knowledge Part 1 Section 1. 

Section2-Vocabulary and grammar. Multiple-choice sentences with gaps. 

Section3-Articles, ads, leaflets, etc. from newspapers or magazines. lengthy text with a multiple-choice exercise. 

Section4-Grammar. Text of average length, with five gaps.

Part 2-

section 1. Four brief texts with corresponding text. New! 

Section 2: Vocabulary and grammar. a text of average length with multiple-choice questions.

section 3: Grammar. Medium-length, open-closed text. 

Section 4: Vocabulary and grammar Multiple-choice task with a gap in the sentence. 

section 5: Reading for the main points and precise details. Report, article from a newspaper or magazine, etc. multiple-choice task with a lengthy text. 

section 6: The task of correcting errors. Text of average length.

Speaking - interview and demonstration , twelve minutes.

Writing - 2 pieces of business writing, such as a letter or report, 45 minutes.

Conclusion-

The results of this online test, which ranges from 0 to 100, are directly equivalent to the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
