Why Reading Test? What do they look for?

Definition-

Test of English as a foreign language (TOEFL/ˈtoʊ fəl/ TOH-fəl) is a standardized test for measuring the English proficiency of non-native speakers who want to enroll in English-speaking universities. TOEFL Reading-

The TOEFL iBT® reading area was designed to assess your ability to read and understand the type of materials used in an academic setting be used. Contains 3-4 reading passages of approximately 700 words each and 10 questions per passage. You have 54 to 72 minutes to answer all of the questions in this section.Reading passages are excerpts from college-level textbooks  used in the introduction to a discipline or topic.
