In contrast to the other two airports, Dusseldorf had a fluctuating pattern in the number of travelers during a five-year period. Frankfurt Airport's final popularity ranking is another intriguing fact. Taking a closer look, it can be seen that Dusseldorf's passenger volume began at 27.2 million in 2007 and subsequently rose noticeably to a peak of 48.2 million in 2009. The number fell to 33.2 million in 2011. To 45.6 million in 2012, there was a modest increase.
Frankfort, on the other hand, started off at 36.5 million in 1998; following that, it climbed considerably over the next three years, reaching 47.3 million. Frankfort reached its busiest moment in 2012 with 69.3 million passengers. When compared to other airports, Berlin Tegel started off with 17.3 million passengers in the first year. Following this, the trend substantially grew to 43.3 million travelers.
